Studio DIVo project commissions include Hotels, Restaurants, Wineries, Casinos, Boutique and Retail venues; Commercial and Corporate interiors; and custom Private Residences. PRINCIPAL, STUDIO DIVo CALIFORNIA:

Carole O’Riordan obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture from the University of California at Davis, including several courses in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. She went on to pursue a Master in Interior Design, specializing in retail and hospitality design.

Carole started the firm in 2005, collaborating with her former colleague Virginie, with whom she worked with during her years in France.  Studio DIVo, therefore, has offices both here and in France.  Before this venture, Carole worked for the top architecture and interior design firms in the world, accounting now for a total of over 30 years of experience in architecture and interior design, comprising 28 trips to Asia, and living for 5 years in Paris and Munich.  Her background includes world class hospitality, commercial and high-end residential projects which span the globe.  A few highlights include renown projects such as the world famous Café Marly in the Paris Louvre; The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore; and The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa.  Her project experience encompasses international hotels and resorts, restaurants, golf clubs, 50-story high-rise residence hotel and condominium complexes in Asia, state-of-the-art athletic and health clubs and luxurious spas, and beautiful custom residences in Hawaii, New York, and locally.  Projects that both Carole and Virginie have been involved with have been published in Architectural Digest, Hospitality and Design, Maison et Jardin France, Gourmet magazine and numerous other European publications. 

RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS:  Studio DIVo completed a $15 million dollar state-of-the-art, custom LEED residence overlooking the ocean along the Northern California coast.  Last year, we were also asked to renovate their weekend home, a beautiful Santa Cruz beach bungalow.  Recently we completed the redesign of a $4 million contemporary residence in Beverly Hills, home of the General Manager of two of the most prestigious Beverly Hills Hotels.  (This home is actually the fourth residence we have done for this same client—who was our very first client back in 2005.)  We have also ventured into landscape design—in our desire for the perfect complement to unite the interior and exterior together.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS:  Studio DIVo completed the design of a $300 million winery campus for Sutter Home Winery and Trinchero.  We also were involved with the refurbishment of Japantown Mall in San Francisco. Most recently, we were entrusted with the remodel of Jack’s Restaurant in Pleasant Hill, their flagship restaurant.  In addition to our interior design scope, we have delved into large scale graphic mural design, signage, lighting design and artwork.

CAPABILITIES:  As the owner of our firm here in California, Carole is the lead designer, involved in every aspect of the project from concept through to a finished product.  As a firm we strive to sensitively apply the owner’s program requirements and oversee their implementation.  From architecturally developing the interior floor/space plan and overall interior, our attention to detail is evident throughout.  Proficient in both AutoCAD and REVIT, we can offer our clients 3D perspective renderings in our development and documentation of interior elevations, clearly delineating the design of built-in casework and both proposed ceiling and architectural features.  As we delve into the finish and material selection, we pursue the highest attention to function and practicality while not compromising the design and décor.  Once the interior concept is set, we can take the interior spaces to another level of detail through the selection of furnishings, lighting, and decorative appointments and artwork.  We are also committed to sustainable design principles and actively pursue unique solutions that include environmentally responsible materials and products. We strive to combine high quality design with the latest and greatest of sustainable products, yet which are appropriate in high-end, custom interiors. All with the intention to create a welcoming and yet unforgettably attractive interior environment, that is timeless.
